Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is the big airport and handles most international flights, connected to the centre by the RER B commuter train, which takes just under an hour. Orly (ORY), further south, is somewhat smaller and closer to the centre. Beauvais (BVA), the third, is much further out — to the northwest, almost in another region — and is used almost exclusively by low-cost carriers; the shuttle bus into Paris takes around an hour and a quarter.
Museums like the Louvre or the Orsay have run on timed-entry tickets for years, so booking ahead isn't optional if the group wants to get in without queuing. The same goes for the Eiffel Tower, which also caps capacity for safety reasons.
Away from the most touristy route, Montmartre keeps much of its village feel within the city, and neighbourhoods like Bastille or Oberkampf work better for nightlife without the prices of the most monumental part of the centre.
